9. The Saint In London (1939)
In this, George Sanders' second outing as Simon Templar, the mystery almost takes a back seat to the charm of the thing. England has never been more English. It's helped in no small way by the presence of the breathtaking Sally Gray as Penny Parker, an enthusiastic thorn in Templar's side, the erotic tension between the two positively leaping from the screen.
Templar: "Okay, you can slow down to 60 or 70 now"
Penny: "Now I know you're the Saint"
Templar: "I was almost a saint two minutes ago"
